"Success is better than sweet" It's a great feeling to see a Nation unite beyond sports, but we are not there yet.
South African Football squad, Bafana Bafana disappointed after not qualifying to FIFA World Cup 2014 in Brazil. In 2010, South Africa became the first nation to host FIFA World Cup. We hosted the 19th FIFA World Cup in June and July 2010. Automatically, South Africa had a position in the World Cup as host therefore did not need a qualify to participate in the qualifying process as this double up a qualification for the African Cup of Nation in 2013.
We also hosted the FIFA Confederation Cup in 2009. Back in 1996, South African Football squad won the African Cup of Nation hosted at home with the likes of Mark Fish, Phil Masinga, Doctor Khumalo to mention few. Those are the legends of Bafana squad, played football with passion and determination to score goals. They all had one dream to make the squad a successful. Desire to play for the Nation, each of them brought an A-game to the team and were proud as well.
South Africa Football Association has been struggling for decates, whenever a team loos is coach's falt. Gordon Igesund took over Pitso Mosimane after Bafana Bafana made an early exit in the World Cup tournament in 2010. Igesund has improved the squad tremendously, even though they fail to score goals but there is a change. His first victory was in 2012, an International Friendly against Mozambique at Mbombela stadium in Nelspruit and Bafana won 2-0.
Every generation has its own ambition in life, sometimes to learn from the elder can help in building a great team. Communication and team work assist in various forms and one is able to excel tremendously. The recent squad keep on making mistakes and fail to produce goals. "Forward is were we go not backwards" it's different with Bafana Bafana, backwards is were they keep on going.
On Saturday 07, South Africa won a match against Botswana 4-1 score but it was too late to secure a spot for 2014 World Cup in Brazil. They were drawn into Group A along Botswana, Central Africa Republic and Ethiopia. Ethiopia top up the log table in Group A and South African came second.
The question is, will they ever qualify to the FIFA World Cup?
Cricket
Cricket South Africa held awards ceremony on September 10, 2013. Hashim Amla joined Ntini and Kallis to win major trophies. The number one batsman in the World won Cricketer of the Year, Test Cricketer of the Year, Fans Player of the Year and 'So Good' Award -Treble Test Century.
Team mates Kallis won one trophy for Delivery of the Year and Dale Steyn the number one bowler in the World also went home with a single trophy, T-20 International Cricketer of The Year.
Captain my Captain, AB de Villiers stole two awards for ODI Cricketer of the Year and Player's Player of the year. Congrats to all the winners, those who didn't win next time! Still on the awards new, Jacques Kallis is a missing link in South Africa squad. During the ICC Champions Trophy he was unavaliable due to personal reasons. Recent updates about him is that he will be available for the upcoming matches.
I don't think there is any concern. He has been the rock of the team for the past 15 years. We all know what to expect. Maybe he is saving runs for the big games. He is an excellent player and will come good. -Hashim Amla on Jacques Kallis's lack of runs at the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2011.
Big match SAvsInd...who will rise? The India tour to South Africa is still inbalance. Will keep you updated.
Formar Proteas coach Gary Kirsten has transformed the struggling national team. India was struggling immensely before Kirsten came on board and the national team rise above, became the World Champions under Kirsten. He has earned the respect of his multi-talented skills. He is now coaching the Delhi Daredevils for three months and says "is good for his family". In 2011, Kirsten was appointed the full time head coach of the Proteas. The Proteas have reached no1 test ranking in the World under Kristen who stepped down in August 2013. Reason being family matters.
Despite all this he is a superb coach. Brainy and wise, dedicated to his work. Any team function around him.
